The South Meadows neighborhood is an industrial and commercial area in the southeast portion of Hartford. It is home to Hartford’s Regional Market and Brainard Airport. Hartford's Regional Market, is a 32-acre facility with over 185,000 square feet of warehouse space, and is the largest perishable-food distribution facility between New York and Boston. It is open to the public and provides shrubs, flowers and garden plants to fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, eggs and Christmas wreaths.
Brainard Airport is a general aviation airport that services light aircraft, charter service, corporate travel, and flight instruction. The airport is owned and operated by the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation.
